Composite Restorations & Bonding
Composite is a tooth-coloured resin that can repair, rebuild, and reshape teeth. It’s one of the most versatile materials we use, and we rely on it for everything from simple fillings to reshaping a chipped front tooth.
What composite can fix
- Decay
When a tooth has a cavity, we remove the decayed part and rebuild the tooth with composite. The filling bonds directly to the tooth and is shaped and polished to match the surrounding enamel, so it blends in rather than standing out. - Worn teeth
Grinding, acid erosion, and general wear over time can shorten teeth or wear down their biting edges. Composite can build the tooth back up, restoring both its shape and its function, without needing a crown. - Missing tooth structure or gaps
Whether it’s a chip, a crack, a gap between teeth, or a small section of tooth that’s missing, composite can fill in the missing structure and restore a natural, even smile.
In all of these cases, the goal is the same: stop further damage, restore proper function, and keep the result looking like a natural tooth.
Composite Bonding
Composite bonding uses the same material in a more cosmetic way. Rather than repairing damage, it’s used to reshape teeth — lengthening a short tooth, smoothing a chipped edge, closing a small gap, or improving the overall symmetry of your smile. It’s applied directly to the tooth in a single visit, sculpted by hand, and polished to a natural finish. No drilling or removal of tooth structure is usually needed, which makes it a conservative option for minor cosmetic changes.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers take bonding a step further, covering the front surface of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour more significantly. They’re built up directly on the tooth in the same visit, so there’s no lab work or waiting period. Composite veneers are a more affordable alternative to porcelain veneers, and because they’re added in layers, they can usually be adjusted, repaired, or refreshed over time rather than replaced outright.
